Freeze Raise Rally Flag, Beat Reno, 7-6
|
The Minneapolis Freeze topped the Reno Raiders by the score of 7-6, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Omar Barroso. Barroso went 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs for the Freeze. The winner was Minneapolis reliever Alfonso Espinoza, now 1-1. The loser was Travis Zastrow. Pete DeCaprio, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Ricky Montanez went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Minneapolis. The 26-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Matt Stevenson. It was his 21st RBI of the season.
"It was a solid team effort," said Montanez after the game.
The Raiders fall to 12-19 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2044 season.
