Starting pitcher Paul Alexander fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Joplin Fireballs stymie the Antioch Coal Miners, 4-0. The winning pitcher was Alexander, now 2-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Despite the loss, Antioch is still 18-8.

The Fireballs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Emeric Bruno. For the game, Bruno went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
