The Joplin Fireballs picked up a win at The Coal Mine, knocking off the Antioch Coal Miners, 6-3. Starting pitcher Evan Hamilton was a big reason why. Hamilton yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-1. Joplin goes to 8-17.

Joplin used a clutch at-bat from George Durand to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Fireballs ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Durand told a Joplin News reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
