The Billings Mustangs withstood a fine game by Indianapolis second baseman Ken Martin at Ken Griffey Jr. Plaza, to upend the Ambition, 8-6. Martin was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The loss drops Indianapolis to 12-14.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Gene Crowell? The Billings shortstop had a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mustangs on top, 6-5. For the game, Crowell had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
