Cacti Drop 5-2 Decision
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 21-year old center fielder Sam Spurr, the Calgary Cowboys stopped the Albuquerque Cacti, 5-2, in 9 innings. Josh Caldwell was the winner. He's now 3-2. The loser was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Burton. Calgary, at 24-7, has sizzled in the early going.
Calgary used a well-timed hit by Manny Bobadilla to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Said losing manager : "Give the Cowboys credit. They played a better game than we did."
