Astoria picked up a win at The Firepit, bumping off the Joplin Fireballs, 5-2. Pitcher Nick Cook was a major reason the Argonauts emerged victorious. The winner was Cook. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Danny Covington. Brandon Anderson wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.

Astoria used a clutch at-bat from Bill Mobbs to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Argonauts ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Cook. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."

The Argonauts raised their record to 9-15.
