Captains Win Nail-Biter in 10
|
The Tallahassee Captains had to weather a strong performance from Albuquerque pitcher Jason McConville before claiming a 2-1 win in 10 innings. McConville went 7.2 innings and allowed no runs. The win was credited to 29-year old right-handed pitcher Martin Andrade in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Joe Kean took the loss. Tallahassee is clipping along at 18-9.
Tallahassee used the timely hitting of Melvin Cintron to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Captains on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Cintron. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
