Mexico City Loses, 5-4, Despite Escobar Exploits
|
Though he had a stellar game, Eddie Escobar could not prevent his team, the Mexico City Luchadores, from losing, 5-4, to the Chicago Eclipse. Escobar slugged 2 home runs. Brendan Tucker got the win, improving to 3-1. He worked 8.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Jerry Bamberg closed the game out for Chicago, earning his 4th save.
The Eclipse got a big at-bat from left fielder Jason Bennett. For the game, Bennett hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Chicago a 2-0 lead.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Bennett. "It sure beats the alternative."
The defeat makes the Luchadores 7-12.
