Black Bears Get Hard-Earned Win
The Black Bears grabbed a win, 5-4, at Coca Cola Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Baton Rouge pitcher Isaiah Springfield. Springfield went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Josh McCloud got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 8 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. The Outlaws fall to 8-13 and continue their lethargic start to the 2063 season.

Jorge Batista delivered a big hit for Thunder Bay. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Bears ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

Batista called the win "a pick-me-upper."
