Black Bears Beat Visiting Cowboys, 7-4
Thunder Bay defeated Calgary, 7-4, in large part due to 31-year old third baseman Khalil Barner. Barner drove in 3 runs. The third baseman had 1 double and 1 home run for the Black Bears. The defending champion Black Bears are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 8th win in 21 games.

Barner contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Thunder Bay in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-1, Barner took a fastball from Josh Caldwell and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Black Bears to leap in front, 4-3.

Barner expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
