Multi-HR Day for Johnson as Aeropostales Overpower Black Bears, 7-3
|
The Indian Wells Aeropostales topped the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 7-3, with center fielder Eric Johnson playing a big role. Johnson went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Aeropostales in the win. Indian Wells reliever Dusty Gorman was credited with the win, to go to 1-4. Dave Bustos took the loss for Thunder Bay. The Black Bears fall to 11-12 and continue their wobbly start to the 2044 season.
Indian Wells used the timely hitting of Mario Berrum to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Aeropostales on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Thunder Bay manager Norm Cobb.
