The Albuquerque Cacti outlasted Kai Waga and the State College Swallowtails, 8-6. Waga was impressive in the loss. The State College catcher was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The loss drops State College to 11-11.

The Cacti beat the Swallowtails in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Bill Pride produced in the top of the ninth. Batting against Billy Seal, Pride gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"They beat us fair and square," State College skipper Afalku Coffie said.
