Hens Paste 4-3 Loss on Flash
|
The Hendersonville Hens beat the Fairfield Flash, 4-3, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Hendersonville first baseman Jason Nies collected 3 singles and 1 double with 1 RBI. Jose Ayala got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 8. Fairfield, with the loss, is still a stout 13-5.
Hendersonville used the hitting of Jeff Poor to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Hens on top, 2-0. For the game, Poor had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Fairfield skipper Edward Batkin.
