The Albuquerque Cacti overcame a good performance by Waimea catcher Gil Perez to knock off Waimea, 6-5, at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Perez went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Albuquerque reliever Blake Orlando picked up the win to move to 2-0. Mike Crawford suffered the loss. Rickey Turner recorded the save for Albuquerque, his 3rd of the season.

Albuquerque right fielder Rafael Campos made his contribution to the Cacti cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the day, Campos went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Waimea manager Mario Perez. "The effort was great."

The defending champion Cacti have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 8-8 with the win.
