The Calgary Hitmen beat the Astoria Argonauts, 12-7, at Mckinley Park. The Hitmen got a fine performance from designated hitter Shane Fredrickson, who went 1-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Javier Rios earned the save for Calgary, his 1st of the year. The win lifts Calgary to a record of 6-7.

Grant Snell had a big bases-clearing double for the Hitmen in the bottom of the first inning. With Calgary leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Lance Kaeser and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hitmen ahead, 5-0.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Calgary skipper Brandon Ashley. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
