Coal Miners Win, 8-1, Extend Streak to 4 Games

At The Coal Mine, the State College Swallowtails and Antioch Coal Miners were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Antioch Coal Miners pitcher Justin Allmond was in top form, leading his team past the State College Swallowtails, 8-1. Allmond, now 2-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Oliver de Leeuw earned save number 1 this season.
The Swallowtails had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Coal Miners going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Mike Daniels came to the plate. Daniels hit a 2-run home run on a 0-2 curveball from State College hurler Steve Stevens. It was Daniels's 3rd home run of the year.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Afalku Coffie.
The Coal Miners, now 11-2, have been on fire in the early going.
