Parrish Leads Outlaws to Win
|
Jahiem Parrish added some punch to the Baton Rouge offense, helping them outmuscle the Indian Wells Aeropostales, 15-9. In the game, Parrish, who is tied for 8th in the RAAA with a 1.185 OPS, was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Baton Rouge reliever Juan Ortiz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ken Maynard was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Eddie Ramos, his 1st.
Baton Rouge left fielder Tom Burns had a key at-bat for the Outlaws in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing left-hander Luis Salcido, Burns hit a grand slam. It put Baton Rouge in front, 12-9. For the day, Burns was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Burns.
Baton Rouge, now 9-5, has played well in the early going.
