The Amarillo Armadillos knocked off the Joplin Fireballs, 8-5, at Armadillos Park. Nate Parish was a big reason Amarillo won. The second baseman went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Tom Hughes closed the door for Amarillo, picking up his 1st save of the year. After losing, Joplin is 2-6.
Amarillo center fielder Bobby Dickens contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a splitter to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the Armadillos ahead, 7-5.
"I'm a big believer in luck," said Parish. "And the harder we work, the more we have of it."
