The El Paso Mavericks had no problem beating the Mexico City Luchadores, 12-0, at The Royal Grounds. Brad Coates, who finished 5th in the RCL in wins above replacement with 4.9 last year, led the onslaught. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 5 for El Paso. Mexico City now is 5-11.

El Paso won the game in part because of Danny Sullivan. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 2-0. For the game, Sullivan had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"I have nothing to complain about," said winning manager Lorenzo Castillo after the game.
