Racers Come Up Short at Tallahassee, 4-3
|
The Tallahassee Captains locked up a win at The Carrier Dome, knocking off the Bowling Green Racers, 4-3. On the mound for Tallahassee was right-hander Leon Gutierrez. He played a major role in the triumph. Gutierrez yielded 3 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-1. With the loss, Bowling Green drops to 1-4.
Gustavo Cabrera was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Tallahassee. The 29-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Chua-kah Bai. It was his 6th hit of the season.
"For the most part, I felt like I did a pretty good job with executing the pitches I was throwing," said Gutierrez.
