Black Bears Score Late to Upend Wind, 3-1
|
The Thunder Bay Black Bears defeated the Waimea Wind, 3-1, in RCL AAA action at The Wind Tunnel, with Thunder Bay pitcher Juan Marichal Jr. named player of the game. Werner Jackman locked down his 2nd save. Thunder Bay is off to a hot start at 2-1.
Joe Gravel contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the eighth. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly. It was one at-bat that propelled Thunder Bay to the win.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Thunder Bay skipper Norm Cobb. "I can't complain."
