Fans of the Fort Worth Cats who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Fort Worth win over the visiting Calgary Cowboys, 1-0. Jeff Reynolds started for the home team against Alberto Ponce. Alberto Ponce earned accolades for his performance.

Fort Worth second baseman Bryant Wight contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Cats ahead, 1-0.

"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Wight.
