Fans of the Billings Mustangs who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Billings win over the visiting Albany Firebirds, 8-3. Jeremy Hillman started for the home team against Jim Metcalfe. Larry Kennedy earned accolades for his performance. Jeremy Hillman got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Firebirds to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2.

With Billings trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Kennedy hit a sinker from Jim Metcalfe for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Mustangs ahead, 5-3.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Brad Lyons said.
