The Houghton Gremlins had to overcome a fine effort from Kansas City pitcher John Nauss to win, 4-3, in 15 innings at Golden Goebels Park. Nauss went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Houghton is now 69-70.

The decisive blow was delivered by Kevin Bennett in the bottom of the 15th when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Fred Poole to win the game for Houghton. The home crowd went nuts.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Dane Freeman, the Houghton skipper.
