Bison Deal Tornadoes 7-5 Loss
|
Though he had a terrific game, Mike Hernandez could not prevent his team, the Kansas City Tornadoes, from absorbing a loss. Buffalo won the game, 7-5. Hernandez was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. The winner in relief was Josh Swopes. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. With the win, Buffalo goes to 73-64, while the Tornadoes fall to 65-72.
Buffalo needed the clutch hitting of Mace Kota to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bison on top, 6-5. For the game, Kota had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Buffalo manager Jon Green.
