Marauders Lose to Mounties, 6-2
|
The first-place Montreal Mounties took on the Maple Marauders in front of a spirited crowd.
Montreal turned a fine outing from starter Matt Lopas into a victory over the Maple Marauders at Mount Royal Grounds. The final score was 6-2. Lopas yielded 2 runs over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 19-2. Jim LeMay locked down his 31st save.
Jared Jones had a big run-scoring double for the Mounties in the bottom of the third inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from George Soucy Jr., who is tied for 10th in the TML in innings pitched with 162.2, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 39th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mounties ahead, 2-0.
"Matt pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Montreal manager Julián Martínez.
The first-place Mounties have won 4 in a row.
