Downward Spiral Continues for Asheville
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Walnut Creek Warriors and the Asheville Moonshiners, Bruce Moreno was the X factor. The Walnut Creek right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Moreno got the win, improving to 7-10. He gave up 2 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Darren Rogers notched his 29th save of the season.
Dan Edwards, who is rated as the 25th best prospect by BNN, had a direct impact on the outcome. Edwards contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Walnut Creek up, 2-0.
"We haven't been playing to the level we want to play," said Asheville manager Baldassario Ardinghi.
Asheville is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 9 games.
