The Bighorn Bison took Mike Ortner's best shot and still were able to collect a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. The final score had Bighorn getting past the Pioneers, 5-2, in 10 innings. Ortner over 6.2 innings allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 4. Mike Lake picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-11. Clay Clermont, who is tied for 4th in the TML in saves with 30, was tagged with the loss. The 4th-place Bison lifted their record to 76-83.
Bighorn needed the clutch hitting of Matt Saxton to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bison on top, 5-2. For the game, Saxton had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Saxton told a Bighorn Daily News reporter that he felt "relieved" after the win.
