Kansas City pitcher Mario Villegas had a large part in his team subduing the El Paso Mavericks, 7-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. The last-place Tornadoes now have a win-loss record of 63-71.

The Tornadoes got a big at-bat from shortstop Vinnie Fasnacht. For the game, Fasnacht went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 2-0 lead.
