John Crowther, who is tied for 6th in the TML with a 7.6 K/9 rate, pitched well, but the Vancouver Pioneers still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Maple Marauders at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. The winner in relief was Trevor Biggs. He is now 2-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Luther Bonnefoy earned the save for Maple, his 1st.

Maple used the timely hitting of Baldassario Righini to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Marauders on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If you ever get this game figured out," said Vancouver manager Jesús Morán, "let me know."

Maple, now 58-76, holds down 6th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
