Jazz Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Eclipse, 2-1
|
The Montreal Jazz picked up a win at Stade Claude Raymond, defeating the Chicago Eclipse, 2-1. Starting pitcher Ghaysun Sghir was an essential part of his team's success. The third-place Jazz are now 71-62, the Eclipse 67-66.
Chris Jones drove in one run for Montreal. The slick-fielding center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jason Beeks. It was his 50th RBI of the season.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Carlos Esparza.
