Tornadoes Drop Mavericks, 7-3

The Kansas City Tornadoes faced a tough opponent in El Paso pitcher Edwin Serna, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Corral by a final score of 7-3 in 11 innings. Serna went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. With the win over El Paso, the Tornadoes improved to 66-90.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Chris Ascione to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Tornadoes on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Ascione attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
