The home crowd was treated to a thrilling, walk-off win.

Montreal beat Asheville at Mount Royal Grounds, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Chris Romanko. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The Mounties have a one-game lead in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.

Gene Johnson was the walk-off hero for Montreal. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mounties center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Johnson described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
