Bison Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Buffalo Bison got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jake Nulty, who muffled the Jacksonville offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Bison win at Thundering Grounds at Bison Stadium. Nulty, the winner, moves to 5-6. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 2 walks. Steve Hoefling earned save number 31 this season.
Jeff Jessel had a big run-scoring double for the Bison in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Buffalo leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Lewis Peterson, who finished 5th in the TML in innings pitched with 221.0 in 2045, and swatted a double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bison ahead, 2-0.
"We found a way to win tonight," Jessel said.
The 4th-place Bison go to 74-81.
