Ramrods Stymied by Mavericks, Burket
|
The El Paso Mavericks got a marvelous performance from pitcher James Burket. The left-hander kept the Huntington Station offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 7-0 El Paso victory at The Corral. The Mavericks are now 73-59.
Burket, a native of Winfield, Alabama, was dealing all game. He kept Huntington Station hitters off-balance, while giving the Mavericks 8.1 quality innings. Burket threw 90 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5.
"James is one tough son of a gun," said El Paso manager Lorenzo Castillo.
