The Houghton Gremlins beat the Asheville Moonshiners, 7-5, at The Still. The Gremlins got a fine performance from third baseman Geoff Raines, who was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Houghton pitcher Luis Moreno earned the win, hiking his record to 5-3. Steven Shiplack suffered the loss. The save was credited to Chris Wethington, his 35th.

Raines had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-0 sinker from Steven Shiplack, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Gremlins a 7-5 lead. It was the 19th home run of the year for Raines.

"It's great to be on a roll," said Raines.

Houghton, now 77-55, has won 12 straight games.
