Pioneers Come Up Short at Quebec, 3-2
|
Quebec Armada starter Bruce Gaulton pitched well against the Vancouver Pioneers at Lucky 7 Ballpark, leading his team to a win, 3-2. Gaulton, now 7-9, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Quebec is now 59-72.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Armada had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder Eric Gerdes hit a run-scoring single. The single came off James McColl and made the score 1-0, Armada. Gerdes went 1 for 4.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Quebec manager Ramu Pavi.
