The Vancouver Pioneers and Buffalo Bison obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

In a close game at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, the Vancouver Pioneers edged the Buffalo Bison, 5-4. Vancouver designated hitter Mark Fitzmaurice stood apart with his performance. He was 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. The last-place Pioneers now have a win-loss record of 71-80.

Had Fitzmaurice not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Fitzmaurice drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Pioneers took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.

Fitzmaurice described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
