Mario Solis could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Bloomington Blazers lost, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Walnut Creek Warriors at Castlerock Field. Russ Gilleo picked up the save, his 33rd. Walnut Creek has a record of 98-52, placing them first in the Thurman Munson League West Division.
The Warriors got a big at-bat from catcher Wally Cassell. For the game, Cassell went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Walnut Creek a 1-0 lead.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Cassell. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
