4-1 Loss Extends Milwaukee Losing Streak
|
The Vancouver Pioneers went home winners at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, thanks in large part to starter Mike Ortner. Ortner stifled the Milwaukee Millers, enabling Vancouver to grab the 4-1 win. Joey Tino, credited with the save, is now 24 for 27 in save opportunities. The Pioneers, at 84-66, lead by one game in their division.
Wonus Hagner, who is a four-time Gold Glove Award winner, took Milwaukee hurler Jay Davis deep in the bottom of the first. His 3-run home run put the Pioneers on top, 3-0. In all, Hagner had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Hagner.
