The Buffalo Bison topped the Vancouver Pioneers, 6-4, with shortstop Mace Kota playing a big role. Kota was 4-5 with a triple and 2 doubles for the Bison in the win. Getting the save was Mike Waldrup, his 31st. The third-place Bison go to 75-75.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jonathan Schimmel came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Vancouver pitcher Clay Clermont, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Buffalo on top, 5-4.

"I'm proud to wear a Buffalo jersey," Schimmel told the Buffalo Times. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
