With Late Score, Gremlins Beat Pilots
|
The Houghton Gremlins outlasted Miguel Ruiz and the Jacksonville Pilots, 9-8. Ruiz was impressive in the loss. The Jacksonville left fielder was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Houghton, now 74-55, holds down first place in the Roberto Clemente League Mike Brouillette Division.
Israel Obando was the walk-off hero for Houghton. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Gremlins center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I like our mindset right now," said Houghton manager Dane Freeman.
