Jacksonville's Popper Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
|
It was a good day at Arnold Field. The Jacksonville Pilots whipped the Seattle Sasquatch, 17-5, and third baseman John Popper showed off a hot bat, going 5-for-6 at the plate.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," Popper told BNN reporters after the game.
Pilots manager Bill Lomax told the beat writers otherwise, calling the 28-year-old "focused and patient."
"It's not luck," the skipper said. "He has a solid approach to hitting. John hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have."
John Popper hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Bess in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Popper is batting .434 with 38 home runs and 124 RBIs this season.
