The Vancouver Pioneers tallied a win at Copps Park, throttling the Manhattan Slice, 5-2. Starting pitcher Ricky Suazo was a big reason for his team's success. Getting the save was Willie Arredondo, his 38th. The win gives Vancouver a season record of 70-59.

It could have been a different outcome for Vancouver, had it not been for Ryan Welch, the 23-year old left fielder . Welch contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Vancouver up, 1-0.

"Solid game, solid win tonight," said a smiling Welch.
