Moonshiners Get Past Montreal, 6-5
|
The Asheville Moonshiners defeated the Montreal Mounties, 6-5, at Mount Royal Grounds. Asheville was led by 22-year old shortstop Seth Clark, who went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. J.P. Larson claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 3-3. The Moonshiners now own a record of 68-61.
Clark had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 fastball from Bill Wolfe, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Moonshiners a 6-5 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Clark.
Asheville manager Baldassario Ardinghi was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
