The Eureka Hornets besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Montreal right fielder Leil Moorthy by beating the Mounties, 6-5, at The Nest. Moorthy went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Ryan Sartore. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-1. Matt Acrey notched his 28th save in 33 chances.
Mark Bradford, who finished 2nd in the TML in runs with 130 in 2063, chipped in a run-scoring hit-by-pitch for Eureka in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Bradford told the Eureka Times.
Eureka is in third place in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division with a record of 80-71.
