Earthquakes Earn Clutch Win, 6-5
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes and Huntington Station Ramrods obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
Though he had a terrific game, Brian Matter could not prevent his team, the Huntington Station Ramrods, from absorbing a loss. San Francisco won the game, 6-5. Matter went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jim LeMay earned the save for San Francisco, his 27th of the year.
Joe Strickland drove in one run for San Francisco. The 35-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Brian Clendenny. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Strickland told the San Francisco Gazette.
After today's action, San Francisco sits at 56-72, while Huntington Station falls to 59-69.
