Moonshiners Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Still was the site of some high drama.
The Asheville Moonshiners, despite a fine performance by Cabo San Lucas pitcher Jason Weiss, grabbed a 3-2 win at The Still. Weiss allowed 1 run over 6.2 innings. Asheville pitcher Steven Shiplack got the win, upping his record to 2-4. Jimmy Sherry got the loss.
Alex Garza was the walk-off hero for Asheville. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Moonshiners first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Garza. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
Asheville is 69-59 and Cabo San Lucas, with the loss, 53-75.
