Eclipse Get Extra-Inning, 7-6 Win
|
The Chicago Eclipse found a way to sneak past the Dallas Texans, 7-6, in 11 innings. Chicago pitcher Ken Blais, for one, had a standout performance. Joe Umlah snagged the win in relief. He goes to 6-4 on the season. Michael Benz suffered the loss. Chicago is in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Tim Ervin Division with a record of 66-61.
Danny Mercado came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The third baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 7-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Mercado. "I like it."
