The Montreal Jazz defeated the Chicago Eclipse, 3-2, in Thurman Munson League action at Millenium Field. Montreal pitcher Chris Javalera had a standout performance. Javalera went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-6. Ernesto Herrera picked up the save for Montreal, his 30th of the year.
In the top of the seventh, Montreal shortstop Frank Cruz had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Chicago hurler Lawrence Dugas, Cruz reached on catcher's interference. That made the score 3-1, Montreal. For the day, Cruz drove in one run.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Cruz.
Montreal bumps their record to 55-70 with the win.
