The Maple Marauders spoiled a good performance by Hawaii right fielder Aaron Gross, bumping off Hawaii, 5-3, at Aloha Stadium. Gross went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The 5th-place Marauders are now 57-67, the Honu 52-72.

Earl Bitner had a big 2-run double for the Marauders in the top of the first inning. With Maple leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Steve Simons and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 23rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marauders ahead, 3-0.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Bitner told the Maple Chronicle.
