Earthquakes Lose Again, 6-1, to Hornets
|
Eureka Hornets starter Israel Valensuela was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the San Francisco Earthquakes, 6-1. Sinclair Wouters got the save, the 7th for him this season. The Hornets now own a record of 71-52.
Dwain Greening had a big 2-run triple for the Hornets in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Eureka leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Yun-fat Liang and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 5th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hornets ahead, 4-1.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Greening told a Eureka Daily News reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
